Optional: soak pears in water with a generous squeeze of lemon juice to prevent browning. Pat dry after removing from lemon water.
Lemon Water
Dehydrator method: spread pear slices on dehydrator trays and dry at 55°C until slices until leathery. Allow pears to cool and place in airtight containers. If storing in the pantry, rotate the jars once or twice a day to ensure pears are completely dry and not sticking together. In need, pop the pears back in the dehydrator for a few more hours if moisture is detected.
Oven method: spread pear slices on an oven-safe cooling rack. Dry at 55°C until slices until leathery. If your oven temperature does not go as low as 55 - 60°C, prop the oven door ajar during the during time. Allow pears to cool and place in airtight containers. If storing in the pantry, rotate the jars once or twice a day to ensure pears are completely dry and not sticking together. In need, pop the pears back in the oven for a few more hours if moisture is detected.
